Free Info	What Is CLASS • Accreditation • Accreditation • Colleges Which Have Accepted CLASS Graduates Accreditation Christian Liberty does not seek accreditation. Given the state of public education in America, our academy sincerely believes that it is responsible to promote education reform by setting a higher standard—to lead, rather than to follow the crowd. Accreditation Myths Course credits from an accredited school are universally accepted. False. There are many different agencies all with different standards. Each school decides what it will accept and will not accept. Most schools accept our credits. Those who do not immediately accept our credits will do so after administering an achievement test, receiving information about our course requirements, and seeing the quality of the child’s education.   Accreditation is an indication of quality. False. The failure of “accredited” public schools to maintain academic excellence is legendary. Thousands of parents have fled accredited public schools to join our program. Some of the students, even third graders who were getting good grades in those schools, were still unable to read at the time they enrolled with CLASS. Credits from a non-accredited institution are inferior or unacceptable. False. In fact, if we were to subject ourselves to some accrediting agency we would be forced to compromise the quality and theological emphasis of our program. The fact is that most quality schools will recognize quality students. We are proud of the success our students have had in colleges and universities all over America. See a partial list of such institutions. The fact is, our students are routinely accepted by colleges. Accreditation Problems Over the past thirty-five years, our administrative staff has noted several Christian schools, at both elementary and high school levels, that have voluntarily placed their institutions under the standards of secular accrediting agencies. Without exception, each Christian school that sought such accreditation became embroiled in a tug-of-war with the respective accreditation board regarding the theological and philosophical content of their curriculum, their administrative policies, and teaching methodology. The end result was that these Christian schools either withdrew from their accrediting associations or significantly compromised the spiritual and academic goals of their institutions. In either case, the result of seeking accreditation was a disaster for these Christian schools. Christian Liberty Academy will not jeopardize the reputation of its programs and curriculum by becoming “unequally yoked” with the standards of secular accreditation boards who simply do not believe that it is proper for educational institutions to prioritize both religious and academic training. The National Commission on Excellence in Education, headed by University of Utah’s President, David Gardner, released a comprehensive study to President Ronald Reagan on April 26, 1983 concerning public education. This report summed up the status of our nation’s foremost education system in one word: “chaos.” The report went so far as to state that if “the rising tide of mediocrity did not reverse itself, our nation’s security and prosperity would be threatened.” This report, as well as numerous other studies of recent date, reveals that the process of accreditation has not helped to raise the standards of public and private schools in America. In light of the fact that nationally published documentation has recently verified that there are over twenty-five million “functionally illiterate” young adults in the United States, it seems completely illogical that any school institution would want to adopt the standards and goals of the current educational establishment. The school board of the Christian Liberty Academy School System refuses to follow the standards of state licensed schools when such schools have proven themselves to be incapable of maintaining academic excellence. The ongoing crisis in our nation’s schools has forced many public educators to routinely recognize credits from students who attend non-licensed, recognized, parochial schools such as Christian Liberty Academy. Our academy, given the current education crisis in America, sincerely believes that it is responsible to promote educational reform by setting a higher standard than the current educational establishment—to lead, rather than to follow the crowd.
