CLASS has created an online algebra tutorial to assist students with selected
concepts of Algebra 1. The tutorial does not teach the whole of algebra, but
focuses on topics that tend to be particularly challenging to students or that
are otherwise critical to mastering the course. It presents step-by-step animated
solutions along with a teacher’s audio explanation of key concepts that
are foundational to a student’s success in this subject.
Although we have
designed this tutorial with the Algebra 1 student in mind, the Algebra ½ (pre-algebra)
student will find it useful in the later stages of the course as he advances
into concepts foundational to Algebra 1.
Students enrolled in Working with Numbers: Algebra will also find a great deal
of help here, and the Algebra 2 student can use the tutorial for any needed
review. A menu has been provided with the tutorial indicating which lessons
or pages in your student’s specific textbook or workbook correspond with
the tutorial lessons. Algebra 2 students using the tutorial for review purposes
should refer to the general index.
We encourage our students to include the
tutorial as a regular part of their algebra study. We also invite parent/teachers
to make use of the tutorial in
their preparation and their teaching. At times, a fresh look at an algebraic
process or problem that includes a verbal explanation can help a student achieve
a better understanding of an important concept.
You may wish to view a sample
lesson prior to registering for access to the tutorial.
The
sample provided is just one example from a complete lesson. This sample plays

Many factors determine the download time for each section of a lesson, including
the speed of your connection. On average, each download takes one to two minutes
on a 56k modem. Some downloads are quicker while others will take longer. High
speed connections will obviously take less time.
Please make note of the link to the feedback survey on the top menu bar of each
tutorial. We are very interested in hearing about your experience with the tutorial.
Did
you

Once you submit your registration, a response will be sent back to you providing
a user name and password for the tutorial.
