The CLASS customer service phone team receives a steady stream of requests for help and guidance. For example, some of the most common questions that families ask are...

An achievement test is not the same thing as a test you take while studying a particular course. No letter grade is given, and the student does not pass or fail. An achievement test measures how a child is performing relative to other children at the same age and grade level. Having a student prepare for the test would actually skew |

the results. Our version of the CAT measures the student’s math and language skills. These are the basic skills one needs to acquire knowledge in all areas. The test is designed to present some items that are beyond the child's ability, in order to find the limits of their basic skills. It helps to explain to your student that there will be things on the test they are not expected to know. This should help relieve unnecessary stress. The test usually has some practice questions at the beginning to help orient the student to how they are supposed to respond and mark the test. |

The question assumes that accreditation is a guarantee of quality. It is not. We regularly see students transferring from "accredited" public schools into our program with woefully deficient reading and math skills. We often have to remediate by adjusting the the student’s grade level. It is the failure of "accredited" schools that has fanned the flames of the home schooling movement. The fact is that colleges are always looking for good students, and our diploma is widely accepted. A GED, while purporting to signify proficiency at the high school level, is considered by many, more accurately we think, to be equivalent to an eighth grade education. Many employers and colleges treat a GED as less than a diploma.
