Coursework should be submitted only from those courses that have been assigned
by CLASS; supplemental schoolwork, courses from other institutions, and work
not specifically required by the course instructions should not be submitted.
If you desire to submit high school level transcripts of courses completed outside
of CLASS, send them under separate cover to the attention of our Transcript Department.
Do not submit any other correspondence with your coursework. Letters
and payments
sent with work for grading will be delayed at best. Go to How the
Grading Process
Works to see how coursework is handled.
We recommend you mail completed tests about once a month (and daily work as courses
are completed) to minimize postage costs as well as the effect of a possible
mail loss. If you are approaching the end of a CLASS quarter, make sure your
package is postmarked by the quarter
ending date. Work postmarked after a quarter
ending date will processed in the subsequent quarter.
Do not submit incomplete tests, daily work, or R&I sheets. Incomplete tests
will be graded “as is” with the blank questions or sections being
marked wrong. Daily work that has been partially completed will, in most instances,
be graded “as is” with the incomplete sections marked wrong (in select
cases, we may return the incomplete daily work to you). If an R&I sheet is
received without its required work attached, the R&I sheet will be returned
to you. In courses that do not require the submission of daily work, the R&I
you submit must include your daily work score. If such an R&I is submitted
without the daily work score, it will be returned to you.
If you are mailing both tests and daily work at the same time, place them in
separate envelopes. Write TESTS on the envelope containing the tests and DAILY
WORK on the envelope containing the daily assignments and R&I sheets. These
envelopes can then be placed together into your mailing package, which should
be sent to:

If you have multiple students, you may mail their work together in the same package.
Do not change or correct answers on a test before submitting it to
CLASS. You may review completed tests with your student, but do not
make any marks or alterations on a test once your student has completed
it and given it to you.
For each non-scannable test, attach a Student ID label and write
the course name and test number on the top if that information is
not already included on the test. Do not use a Student ID label or
place any stray marks on a pre-identified (scannable) test. Do not
write additional comments on pre-identified tests.
Staple all pages of a non-scannable test together. Do not staple
two or more tests together.
Do not attach R&I sheets when submitting tests. R&I sheets
are for daily work only.
Make sure the tests you are submitting for each course are not mixed
with the tests of other courses; keep each course separate in the
envelope. This will speed up our handling process and reduce the
possibility of any errors.
Submit only the original tests received with your curriculum. Do
not submit photocopies. You should, however, make copies of your
tests for your own records and for protection against mail loss.
CLASS is not responsible for missing tests.
If a test you have submitted was postmarked by the quarter
ending date, but does not appear on your student’s report card for
that quarter, fill out a Report Card Adjustment Request
Form. Staple
your photocopy of the test to the form, and mail it to CLASS within
forty-five (45) days (sixty [60] days if you have a foreign address)
of the date we mailed the report card. We will accept photocopies
only if the original you have submitted is missing. If you do not
have a copy of the missing test, we may require your student to retake
the test.
Some courses require you to submit all written daily work with the
R&I sheet when the course is completed, while others require
you to send in a completed R&I sheet only. Please read the instructions
for each course carefully to determine whether you are required to
include daily work with the R&I sheet.
As your student completes a course, you should have been grading
his daily work assignments on a regular basis. Before submitting
the R&I sheet, calculate the final daily work score according
to the guidelines in the course instructions and Making
the Grade.
If you have misplaced an R&I sheet, you may request a replacement
or use our downloadable/printable
Generic R&I. If you
are using the latter, make sure all fields are appropriately
filled out.

Do not alter the answers on your student’s daily work
before submitting it to CLASS.
Before submission, attach the appropriate R&I sheet to
the front of the completed daily work. Do not submit partial
or incomplete daily work (exception, see Kindergarten below).
We recommend that you place a Student ID label on each of the
first few pages of your student’s daily work or workbook
in the event it becomes separated from the R&I sheet.
Make sure the daily work you are submitting for each course
is not mixed with the daily work of other courses; keep each
course separate in the envelope. This will speed up our handling
process and reduce the possibility of any errors.
When preparing to submit your daily work, use a box designed
for mailing. Pack the daily work first, then fill any remaining
space with newspaper or other packing material that will prevent
crushing or bursting which could damage your work. Seal the
box using plenty of strong packing tape. Do not submit work
in shoe boxes, small appliance boxes, or any other box not
specifically designed for mailing.
CLASS is not responsible for missing daily work. If submitted
daily work was postmarked by the quarter ending
date but does
not appear on your student’s report card for that quarter,
fill out a Report Card Adjustment Request Form. Submit this
form within forty-five (45) days (sixty [60] days if you have
a foreign address) of the date we mailed the report card. If
the daily work is missing, we may require your student to complete
a make-up assignment, at the discretion of CLASS, to receive
a final grade.

Make sure the R&I sheet is appropriately signed. For
grades 1–6, only your signature is required. For grades
7–12, both you and your student must sign the R&I
sheet.
If an R&I sheet you submitted was postmarked by the quarter
ending date, but does not appear on your student’s
report card for that quarter, fill out a Report
Card Adjustment Request Form. Staple your photocopy of
the R&I sheet to the form,
and mail it to CLASS within forty-five (45) days (sixty [60]
days if you have a foreign address) of the date we mailed the
report card. We will accept photocopies only if the original
you have submitted is missing. If you do not have a copy of
a missing R&I sheet, we can send you a replacement or you
may use our downloadable/printable Generic R&I. If you
are using the latter, make sure all fields are appropriately
filled out.

Do not grade your own book reports. We will grade them for
you. For seventh and eighth graders, the average grade for the two reports will be the final
grade. For high schoolers, the two literature book reports will constitute twenty percent of the final grade.
List the book titles on the appropriate R&I sheet and make
sure a Student ID label is affixed to the front of each book
report. Submit both reports together, with the R&I
sheet attached.
This packet can be included with any other daily work materials
you are submitting.

| |
| |
When submitting your research paper and R&I sheet, also include
the outline and the works cited page (a listing of those works
represented and properly documented within the paper itself).
In addition, high school students will be expected
to include hard copies of the pages from their source materials
which they have cited in the body of their papers. For questions
concerning copyright issues related to making copies for academic
reasons, see copyright
concerns.

After Kindergarten is completed, select a sample of 15-20%
of the student’s daily written work. Your sample should
include 15-20% of each course for which written work was required.
We recommend that you place a Student ID label on each of the
first few pages of your student’s daily work in the event
it becomes separated from the R&I sheet.
Attach the completed R&I sheet to the sample selection
and send the entire packet to CLASS.

We recommend that you return schoolwork by first-class mail. To receive
verification of coursework having been received by CLASS, include
a self-addressed stamped envelope or postcard in your package. We
will mail this back to you when your package is opened. Although
we cannot verify receipt of every item in your mailing, we can verify
the date that your package arrived.
